Age-related macular degeneration, or AMD, is one of the leading causes
of vision loss among adults aged 60 or older. Although wet AMD is less
common than dry AMD, it accounts for nearly all vision loss associated with AMD.
This video explains how wet AMD affects your eyesight over time. As small
blood vessels grow underneath the retina of your eye, changes in your
central vision occur. These blood vessels can cause permanent scarring
and loss of eyesight. If you notice any changes in your vision, have them
evaluated by your optometrist to address the underlying cause.
